Map

August 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated, post medieval and possibly medieval field boundaries and other ditches are visible on aerial photographs (S1 to 3). These cropmarks were previously recorded as part of NHER 21773. They are centred on TG36753000. The majority of these ditches are aligned eastnortheast to westsouthwest and northnorthwest to southsoutheast. This is similar to the modern field pattern and some are marked on the 1810 East Ruston Enclosure map (S4). It is likely that all of these boundaries are of post medieval date. A group of rectilinear enclosures are aligned parallel to the modern road either side of the extant post mill remains (NHER 15441). These are also depicted on the enclosure map and are contemporary with that mill. A number of northwest to southeast and southwest to northeast ditches are also present. These share a similar alignment to medieval boundaries recorded to the east and southeast (NHER 38720, NHER 38727) and may be of a contemporary date.
