Summary

This site was the subject of an evaluation carried out by Archaeological Project Services in 2004, which revealed domestic and building waste dating from the 13th to the 18th centuires, as well as a series of undated pits and floors dating to the 17th or 18th centuries. Archaeological Project Solutions also carried out a watching brief on the site in May 2005, the results of which are forthcoming.

September 2004. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site. Contexts 1-83.
Revealed a series of dumped deposits containing both domestic and building waste dating from the medieval and post medieval metal periods. These had artificially raised the land surface in excess of 1.0m.
Cut into the dump deposits, a series of undated pits and floor foundation levels dating to the 17th/18th century were recorded. Late 19th and 20th century structures had superseded these.
