Full Description
September 2004. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site. Contexts 1-83.
Revealed a series of dumped deposits containing both domestic and building waste dating from the medieval and post medieval metal periods. These had artificially raised the land surface in excess of 1.0m.
Cut into the dump deposits, a series of undated pits and floor foundation levels dating to the 17th/18th century were recorded. Late 19th and 20th century structures had superseded these.
