Summary

The arch was completed in about 1760 by Matthew Brettingham to a design by William Kent. The building has a wide central archway, with two smaller side arches, all with blank pediements and rusticated stonework. The two side archways are topped with ball finials, and the central arch has a lunette window underneath the pediement. A prehistoric flint tool and various post-medieval finds were discovered in a void underneath the main room in the central arch in 1993.

Arch, completed about 1760 by Matthew Brettingham to a design by William Kent. Gault brick with flint rustication and stone, Tripartite façade of one wide and two narrow openings under pediments. Groined brick vaults. Tripartite lunette windows at centre. Shaped buttresses and ball finials. Niches each side centre arch.

In void under room above centre arch, many post-medieval artefacts, and one stray undated prehistoric flint tool. Deposit excavated by [1].
