Full Description
September 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Linear ditches, probably representing part of the post-medieval field pattern, are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1-2), centred at TG 2456 3988. The majority subdivide a modern field from east to west and correspond with or lie parallel to field boundaries depicted on historic maps (S3). While the origins of this field pattern may date to an earlier period, it seems likely that the cropmarks relate to post-medieval field boundaries, a number of which appear to have been double-ditched. The two ditches at the north end of the site which follow a different alignment may relate to a different phase of activity and could perhaps be associated with a separate field system recorded to the south-east (NHER 38797).
