Full Description
October 2004. Norfolk NMP.
A possible World War Two military building, probably a pillbox, is visible as a structure on aerial photographs (S1-2). It has been mapped at TG 2698 3967 but due to the lack of suitable control points for rectification this location should be treated as approximate. Little of the detail of the structure can be made out. It has been mapped as a roughly circular feature measuring up to approximately 3m wide, but it could equally be polygonal in plan. Given that so little detail can be made out, the possibility that the feature is a large buoy or other non-military feature cannot be ruled out. Modern maps indicate that the spot at which the structure was visible in 1946 still lies within the inter-tidal zone.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 20 October 2004.
