Summary

A variety of particularly clear cropmarks of questionable date and origin are visible on aerial photographs. Most are irregular in form and are likely to reflect the underlying geology. Other, straighter linear features appear to be modern field drains. Although no archaeological features have been mapped at the site, some of the cropmarks could have an archaeological origin but these are difficult to pick out from the non-archaeological features visible in the same field.

Map

November 2004. Norfolk NMP.
A variety of features, most of geological or modern agricultural origin, are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1-2), centred at TG 2705 3807. They are recorded here partly because they are extremely clear and might be mistaken for archaeological features and partly because archaeological features may be present but indistinguishable from the background 'noise'. The majority of the cropmarks appear to be of geological origin. Linear features on the west side of the site, on the east bank of Mundesley Beck, have the appearance of being modern field drains.
