Full Description
November 2004. Norfolk NMP.
A number of World War Two slit trenches or elongated weapons pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (S1-3). They lay on the cliff edge and comprised a cluster of features centred at TG 2828 3878, with a more isolated trench at TG 2830 3876. The two most clearly visible trenches, which survived as earthworks until 1952 (S3), were embanked. The two westernmost pits or trenches are only visible as areas of disturbed ground on aerial photographs taken in 1942 (S1). To the north of these, and on the same aerial photographs, there are possible traces of military activity on the cliff face but these were not clear enough to map.
