Summary

Metal-detecting between 2004 and 2024 recovered a prehistoric retouched flint flake; Roman, ?Early Saxon, Middle Saxon, medieval, medieval/post-medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; a pierced Late Iron Age gold coin; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a medieval/post-medieval jetton; a post-medieval token and various other, Roman to post-medieval metal objects. These metal finds include Roman brooches, a strap fitting, bracelet fragment, possible staff or sceptre handle, vulvate military harness mount, copper alloy hairpins and a lead steelyard weight; Early Saxon brooches; a Middle/Late Saxon pin; a Late Saxon openwork strap end; a Late Saxon/medieval copper alloy comb; Late Saxon to post-medieval lead weights; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories; medieval harness pendants, thimbles, scabbard chapes, a harness mount, purse bar, mirror case, copper alloy and lead seal matrices and a lead pot mend; a medieval/post-medieval purse bar fragment and copper alloy vessel fragments and post-medieval book fittings, a clapper bell, bridle boss, possible furniture fitting, whittle-tang knife shoulder bolster, vessel handle (in the form of a stylised lion's head), copper alloy seal matrix and white metal bell.
