Full Description
November 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of medieval to post medieval field boundaries and pits are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3022 3198. A ditch cropmark roughly follows the line of the Paston and Knapton parish boundary. At its northeastern end it turns southeastwards to form an incomplete enclosure or field. Further ditches on parallel northwest to southeast alignment are also visible. It is likely that these are medieval to post medieval field boundaries, although they are not marked on the 1827 enclosure map of Paston (S2). Cropmarks of several irregularly shaped pits are present in the southern part of the area. This field was called Marl Pit Close on the enclosure map and the cropmarks may relate to these features.

October 2017-March 2018. Geophysical Survey.
Magnetometer survey of site on proposed route of onshore cable for Norfolk Vanguard and Boreas Offshore Wind Farms.
The area examined coincided with the south-eastern end of the linear cropmark at TG 3015 3186 and the discrete cropmarks at TG 3017 3182. There was no evidence for surviving sub-surface remains. It should though be noted that this survey also failed to identify any trace of several former field boundaries shown on 19th-century maps.
