Map

December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated, probably medieval to post medieval, field boundary ditches and pits are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3085 3203. A north to south aligned linear ditch crosses the Bacton (formerly Edingthorpe) and Paston parish boundary. This ditch is represented on the 1827 enclosure map of these parishes (S2), but could be of medieval or earlier date. A second ditch runs parallel and west of the parish boundary on a southwest to northeast alignment. This field boundary is marked on the Paston tithe map of 1841 (S3). Also shown on that map is a west to east field boundary further to the north. The diagonally aligned ditch cropmarks at TG 3083 3219 and TG 3086 3202 were not marked on either of these maps and are probably of medieval or earlier date. Large pits, possibly marl pits, located at TG 3084 3207 and TG 3090 3193.
