Map

December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
A cropmark of an elongated curvilinear to sub-rectangular enclosure, possibly a Neolithic long barrow or mortuary enclosure, is visible on aerial photographs (S1). This cropmark is centred on TG 3265 3153. This enclosure has a regular curvilinear form consisting of a rectangle with rounded ends. It is aligned on a southwest to northeast axis and has external measurements of 25m by 14m. An entrance is present at the northeast end, defined by swollen ditch terminals. It is possible that this is the ditch surrounding a small Neolithic long barrow or mortuary enclosure. Similar small long barrows are typical of Norfolk and the East of England (S2) with a slightly larger example on a similar alignment recorded 1.6km to the northeast (NHER 16652). Neolithic pits and pottery have been excavated 160m west of this probable long barrow (NHER 12548) (S3).
