(Wrongly titled in (S1) as 8-9 South Quay, the List description correctly states 8 and 10).
Two houses built as one, early 19th century. Red brick, slate roof, Two storeys and attic, six bays, the centre two projecting. String courses between floors. Sash windows.
Ground floor of no. 10 used as public house so that no. 8 has only two bays. Former carriage arch to right. Gabled roof with central lookout cupola. Internal gable stacks. No 10 has open string stair with stick balusters.
Details from (S1).
See (S2) for No. 10 in file.
E. Rose (NLA), 13 November 2004.

Interior of No. 10 inspected during renovations June 2005. Internal partitions all of slight timber framing infilled with brick. Roof of shouldered kingpost and strut. External bond is English. Cellar has walls of cruder, but probably not older, brickwork; brick floor had been covered by a metre of broken tiles and rubbish to raise level above flooding. Massive stone corbels support iron below fireplace. Nothing seen to suggest any work pre 19th century.
