Map

December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of two incomplete rectangular enclosures and linear ditches are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3008 3326. A double ditched rectangular enclosure with rounded corners is located at this grid reference. It lies on a northwest to southeast alignment parallel and perpendicular to a modern field boundary and the line of Hall Lane. The majority of the enclosure lies to the northeast of a modern field boundary. Its continuation to the southwest is suggested by a single short section of ditch cropmark. The visible extent of the enclosure cropmarks reveal its external measurements to be 54m by at least 41m and internally 47m by 38m. Two parallel ditches approach this enclosure from the southwest and may represent a trackway leading to an entrance on that side. A ditch extends to the northeast from the eastern corner of the enclosure, with a second ditch aligned parallel to it, 27m further east. These two ditches appear to be contemporary with the enclosure, but could be of later date. A second possible incomplete enclosure lies 47m to the northwest of the first. It is represented by a single L-shaped ditch, which mirrors the outer ditch of the first enclosure. The date of these enclosures is not certain and it is possible that they are of Roman or medieval to post medieval origin.
