This public house was known as The Swan in 1808 when a sale notification indicated that it included four tenements, bowling green and gardens, altogether about 5 acres. It was listed in the Licence Registers as The White Swan in 1865, 1875, 1883 and 1900. The building was damaged by enemy action on 7 October 1940 and again on 6 May 1941. Information from (S2). The building appears to have remained in use as a public house in the 1970s and this was its use when it was Listed in 1972, but modern photographs indicate that it is now a private house.
