Map

December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated, possibly medieval to early post medieval, field boundaries and other ditches are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3135 3413. Intermittent ditches aligned roughly southwest to northeast run parallel to the Knapton and Paston parish boundary. The ditch on the southern side of the boundary appears to adjoin the northern side of a curvilinear enclosure (NHER 39087), but it is not clear if they are contemporary. Ditches on a northwest to southeast alignment are present in the southwest and northeast areas of this group of cropmarks. Other ditches on a slightly different southwest to northeast alignment and a west to east alignment are present in the centre and northeastern part of the group of cropmarks. Although the ditches do not directly correspond with the surviving post medieval field pattern, none of them appear to cross the parish boundary. It is possible that some, if not all, of these ditches relate to medieval to early post medieval field boundaries.
