Full Description
December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
A possible ring ditch is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 3003 3666. If it is of archaeological origin, it seems most likely to represent the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow or a prehistoric to Iron Age round house. Similar interpretations have been put forward for ring ditches mapped to the north-west (NHER 12805 and 39064). Given its location within a golf course, however, and the numerous modern and geological cropmarks visible in the surrounding area, its archaeological origin is uncertain.
The ring ditch is slightly sub-circular in plan and measures up to 8m in diameter. It is not known whether the break on the northwest side of the ditch circuit represents a genuine entrance or is a product of the cropmark be masked.
