Two possible World War Two earthwork gun emplacements are visible on the edge of a quarry to the east of Oak Hill Wood, Northrepps. The military origin of these earthworks is not definite as it is possible that they relate to activity at the quarry. The site is centred on TG 2306 4072. Both possible emplacements consist of an angular pit and have a surrounding bank of up-cast material with the southern side left open. The northern example is triangular and the other is rectangular. It is hard to be definite about whether or not these are military due to their location within the quarry. The morphology of the pits would be consistent with the sorts of emplacements constructed during training exercises in the area. The earthworks also appear relatively fresh in April 1946 (S1), perhaps having been constructed in the early war years.
