Summary

Three undated linear features are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. They are probably boundary banks and/or ditches. They may have been associated with a post medieval house (NHER 13453) that was located to the northwest. Roman and medieval material has been recovered from the southern part of the site (NHER 39303, 38146 and 36173) but these objects are not necessarily associated with the linear features.

Map

December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Linear banks and ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs ((S1) and (S2)), centred at TG 2822 3763. Although they are not associated with any dating evidence, they seem most likely to be associated with the post medieval house (Rookery Farm or the Grove; NHER 13453) located to their northwest. Their relatively crisp appearance also suggests a post medieval date. At the same time, each linear boundary is visible on only one set of aerial photographs and the possibility that they are agricultural trackways of modern origin cannot be ruled out. Of all the features, the bank visible as a negative cropmark between TG 2812 3778 and TG 2824 3763 is most likely to be of pre modern origin.
Roman and medieval material has been recovered from the field surface over the southern part of the site (NHER 39303, 38146 and 36173) but is not necessarily associated with the mapped features.
