Map

December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
A group of undated linear and rectilinear ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 2970 3785. The two longer ditches, aligned east to west, conform to the pattern of enclosure depicted on historic maps (for example, S2), suggesting that they are post medieval field boundaries. (The southernmost may correspond with a boundary depicted on Gimingham Tithe Map, (S2)). The remaining boundaries may or may not be contemporary. Those at the centre of the site may define one or two small rectilinear enclosures; the northernmost measuring approximately 10m by 10m and surrounding a possible D-shaped pit, the southernmost measuring approximately 14m by 7m. At the same time, it should be noted that the cropmarks are visible on only one set of aerial photographs, and that the possibility that some of the features are the product of modern agricultural activity or the provision of services to nearby houses and caravans cannot be ruled out.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 21 December 2004.
