Map

December 2004. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of a post medieval trackway and undated parallel ditches, possibly another undated trackway, are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3333 3405. Two parallel ditch cropmarks are present on a curving course at TG 3328 3408. These define the eastern end of a farm track or road that is marked on the 1827 Bacton enclosure and 1845 tithe maps (S2-3). Faden’s 1797 map shows a group of buildings, possibly a farm, at the eastern end of this track (S4). It is likely that this road or track had an earlier post medieval or possibly medieval origin. A single northwest to southeast aligned ditch is visible running parallel to part of the track and is likely to be a related field boundary. Two north to south parallel ditches are also present at TG 3339 3400. They extend for up to 80m and are spaced 10m apart. These cropmarks do not relate to any features marked on the enclosure or tithe maps. It is possible that they represent another trackway of unknown date.
