Summary

A line of barbed wire, part of the World War Two coastal defences for the area, is visible as an extant structure on aerial photographs. It forms one section of a longer feature, which continues along the cliff edge to the south-east as NHER 39167 and the north-west as part of NHER 39109. The barbed wire, which is first visible on photographs taken in July of 1941, forms part of an extensive network of World War Two coastal defences along this stretch of coastline.

A line of barbed wire is visible as an extant structure on aerial photographs (S1-2), from TG 3269 3548 to TG 3322 3502. It forms part of the extensive network of coastal defences along this stretch of coast, which was heavily defended during World War Two. It is still visible on aerial photographs taken in 1943 (S3). It was partially removed by April 1946 and was removed entirely later that year, when its former presence is still shown by a vegetation mark (S4-5).
