Map

January 2005. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of two ring ditches, possibly of Bronze Age date, are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TG 3418 3173. The largest of the two possible ring ditches is located at TG 3421 3174. The ring ditch is not completely visible but appears to be circular in plan with an external diameter of 25m. The ditch is up to 2.5m wide and is only visible on the north and south sides. The eastern side of the ring ditch is masked by agricultural activity on the available aerial photographs. A 9m gap in the ditch is also present on the western side. The second ring ditch is centred on TG 3413 3117. It has a sub-circular plan with an external diameter of up to 14m. The ditch is less than 1m wide resulting in an internal diameter of up to 13m. A single 5m wide break in the ditch, possibly an entrance, is present on its northern side. These two ring ditches are located on a gentle southeast facing just above a small stream valley. It is possible that these ring ditches are of Bronze Age date, possibly relating to round barrows. However, the appearance of the smaller ring ditch is not completely convincing and this cropmark could be of natural origin.
