Map

A substantial earth bank that extends along much of the north side of Pye's Lane, across the road from Castle Acre Castle (NHER 3449, Scheduled Monument 146).
English Heritage considers that there may be medieval remains of an outer court or manorial enclosure, or earlier Saxon remains or remains associated with the Peddars Way (NHER 1289, Scheduled Monument 48).
The earthwork makes a major positive contribution to the setting of the Scheduled Ancient Monumnet by providing a semi rural visual barrier that separates the castle from the houses away to the north.
Development may lead to possible destruction of important remains, or the harm to the setting of the Scheduled Ancient Monument and character of the Conservation Area.
From (S1).
