Summary

A building survey in 2003 noted that Stratton House is of unusual design in that the ground floor is semi-subterranean and the principal floor is approached by a double flight of stone steps. The general design is of a piano nobile above a basement in a provincial version of a Palladian model. It is a mid 18th century building with a house of around 1890 attached at east end. Metal detection here in 2008 uncovered a range of Medieval and Post-Medieval finds.
