Summary

Early to mid 17th century timber framed building surrounded by depressions and ponds that suggest it, or an earlier building on the site, may have been moated. Over the inglenook fireplace are engraved the letters AM (Ave Maria), a Sussex marigold (another symbol of Mary) and several poker burns or ritual blessing marks. These were meant to ward off evil. The house has been recently extended.
