NHER 41220 (Building record) - Cottage adjacent Bloomfield House, The Street

A flint and brick cottage, dating to the late 17th century or 18th century.
Gable wall is of flint and brick, and has been raised in height; heightening has bricks with diagonal skintlings, pre 1780; rear outshut, addition to original house but predating the heightening. Front to street has traces of older windows converted to sashes probably in the 20th century.
Set in west gable of cottage; lump of yellow limestone bearing three crosses with circles at ends of arms. Stone is not part of an altar as the crosses are too close together, probably an instance of a reused fragment from a church or monastic site used as a talisman.
