Full Description
March 2005. Norfolk NMP.
World War Two defences including a pillbox, barbed wire and slit trenches are visible on contemporary aerial photographs (S1-4). These defences are centred on TG 3369 3452. A hexagonal pillbox, probably a type 22, had been constructed at TG 33795 34560 by 5 September 1940 (S1). A weapons pit and slit trench were also present by that date. Additional defences including barbed wire, further slit trenches and small buildings had been added to the site by July 1941 and January 1943 (S2-3). A rectangular area of flat concrete, measuring 18m by 2.5m, was present by 1941, but its function is unknown. These defences had been removed by June 1946 (S4). They continue the other World War Two defences to the northwest (NHER 39167) and southeast (NHER 38791).
