Summary

This building was a former Baptist Chapel, which in 2005 was largely gutted and converted to a private residence. Built in 1844 of brick, this two storey building has three bays and a central upper window with ogee moulding. The front is of grey or white brick, with side walls in red brick in English bond. Inside, the gallery at the west end had winding stairs supported on two iron columns with a baluster above each. The chapel also possessed a central low pulpit and organ, and various texts were painted on the east wall. A number of marble and metal memorial plaques were also present. These, and a number of the memorials in the graveyard to the west, were returned to the families of the deceased during the conversion in 2005. Previous to this, work was undertaken to record all of the graveyard memorials. It is believed that the majority of the chapel fittings were removed, except for some woodwork items reused internally.
