Full Description
May-November 2004. Norfolk Rapid Coastal Zone Archaeological Survey.
Inter-tidal survey (Environmental Zone 8), Context 755:
A post alignment of forty timber timbers orientated northwest to southeast, associated with a patch of wattling and loose metal posts, was found embedded in estuarine mud. It was probably a breakwater or revetment used during shellfish farming and collection; ‘Oyster Lays’ are marked close by on a map dating from 1822 (S1). However, the presence of wattling similar to that associated with one of the Saxon fish traps found at Holme-next-the-Sea in 2003, suggests an alternative purpose and date.
