Map

March 2003. Norfolk NMP.
There appears to be a bank on the edge of the saltmarsh to the north of Morston. It is visible on RAF 1952 aerial photographs (S1), BKS 1988 aerial photographs (S2) and Ordnacne Survey images from 1995 (S3). This bank runs from TG 0133 4480 to TG 0165 4488, and is about 330m long and 10m wide. Its date and origin are uncertain, though it may be the remains of part of the local sea defences in the area. It appears to be a possible continuation of the defences formed by NHER 27192 (the two being linked by a line of dunes) if this is the case it is likely that the bank is of at least post medieval date.
At its western end the bank appears to meet another dune. Though it is possible that this is actually a continuation of the bank to the west. This is not definite as that area definitely has a more dune like (than bank) appearance. Therefore this has not been mapped.
