SITE EQUAL/PART OF NHER 27083 AND NHER 27749.

October 2002. Norfolk NMP.
The earthworks of a post-medieval sea defence bank are visible on 1946 RAF aerial photographs (S1), running from TG 0583 4502 to TG 0598 4411. The bank survives as an earthwork approximately 950m long and 13m wide and would have originally continued around to the west to join HER 27749 and SMR 27083. The bank is post-medieval in date and is also clearly visible on the 1797 Faden map (S2).
S. Massey (NMP), 20 March 2003.

May-November 2004. Norfolk Rapid Coastal Zone Archaeological Survey.
Inter-tidal survey (Environmental Zone 12), Context 60:
A modern sea defence bank (known as the ‘East Bank’) was recorded between TG 05915 44909 and TG 05911 44908. Aligned north to south, it measured around 20m wide at the base and 5m wide at the top. It would have been constructed to reclaim saltmarshes (probably those to the east).
See assessment report (S3) for further details.
The associated archive has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2017.421).
