Summary

Scaffold poles and clips were recorded on the beach during the Norfolk Rapid Coastal Survey. These are part of beach scaffolding used as a defence during World War Two.

Context 621:
See NHER 41450 for a scatter of concrete fragments found on the beach in an area measuring 25m by 25m, centred on TF 75060 45027.
Context 622:
A scatter of concrete fragments on the beach, focused on TF 75347 45047. It is probably debris from World War Two beach scaffolding.
Context 623:
Two scaffold poles were embedded in beach sand at TF 75898 45145 and TF 75906 45145. They would have been part of World War Two beach scaffolding defences.
Context 635:
A scatter of twelve metal scaffold poles and one scaffold clip was found between TF 76029 45054 and TF 76399 45136. It is probably remnants of World War Two beach defences.
Context 639:
Two metal posts were discovered embedded in silty clay exposure at TF 76145 45092. Both had a lip at the top that could have held barbed wire as a part of World War Two defences.
Context 679:
Two World War Two metal scaffold poles were recorded embedded within beach sand between TF 76392 45059 and TF 76421 45069.
Context 707:
Two iron stakes were found in-situ embedded in the silty clay layer [706]. Located at TF 76026 45092, they were probably part of World War Two defences.
Context 633:
Two metal scaffold poles and a metal scaffold clip were found embedded in beach sand. Located between TF 76491 45039 and TF 76522 45070, they would have been part of World War Two beach defences.
Context 677:
A scatter of concrete pieces and metal scaffolding poles and clips (TF 76705 45085 to TF 76813 45120) were found lying loose on the beach. They were remains of World War Two beach defences.
Context 678:
Scatter of metal scaffolding poles and clips were observed eroding out of the dune face between TF 76720 45088 and TF 76912 45107. They were not thought to be in-situ, though some could have been. It was a dump of World War Two material.
Context 685:
Two metal scaffold poles were at TF 77021 45161 and TF 77026 45172. They were probably World War Two in date.
