Full Description
April 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A World War Two gun emplacement or pillbox and possible associated circular structure are visible on aerial photographs on the dunes to the north of what is now the Sea Breeze campsite, Eccles-on-Sea (S1). This defensive structure would have formed part of a chain of World War Two defences and gun positions along the dunes and beach in this area, such as NHER 25960, 27318. The site is centred on TG 4218 2816.
A rectangular concrete gun emplacement or pillbox is located at TG 4218 2816 and measures 5.5m by 3.5m. to the immediate south of this is a small, approximately 2m across, and possibly circular structure, although it is hard to be definite of the shape. It is likely that this relate to the pillbox/gun emplacement in front, although it does not look long enough to be a blast wall or similar structure.
