Map

May-November 2004. Norfolk Rapid Coastal Zone Archaeological Survey.
Inter-tidal survey (Environmental Zone 26), Context 144:
A hulk was found on the edge of the saltmarsh. It measured 7m by 3m and was probably a 'Breydon smelter'. It had been converted into a dwelling for use as fisherman’s and/or wildfowler's overnight accommodation.
See assessment report (S1) for further details.
The associated archive has been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 2017.421).
J. Allen (NLA), 27 April 2005. Amended by P. Watkins (HES), 21 July 2019.

November 2005. Norfolk NMP.
Remains of a boat, converted into a hut or hide, is visible on aerial photographs (S2). This structure is located at TG 4944 0776 and was identified by the Norfolk Rapid Coastal Survey (S1). A boat shaped structure measuring approximately 6.5m by 2.5m was present on the edge of the estuary. The location mapped by the NMP places it approximately 15m to the south of the grid reference recorded by the Coastal Survey and corresponds with a hide marked on the current Ordnance Survey map. It is likely that this structure is of 20th century date and is probably either a fisherman's or wildfowler's hut or birdwatcher's hide.
J. Albone (NMP), 22 November 2005.
