Summary

A series of linear features (including a possible enclosure) are visible on 1969 Hunting Survey aerial photographs. The date and origin of most of these features is uncertain, although a part of the complex appears to coincide with the location of post medieval field boundaries included on the 1st edition 1:10560 Ordnance Survey map.

Map

January 2003. Norfolk NMP.
A series of linear features (including a possible enclosure) are visible on 1969 Hunting Survey aerial photographs (S1). The complex is centred on NGR TG0121 4346, but ranges from TG0103 4352 in the northwest to TG0146 4340 in the southeast. The date and origin of most of these features is uncertain, although a part of the complex appears to coincide with the location of post medieval field boundaries included on the 1st edition 1:10560 Ordnance Survey map (S2), which might suggest a similar date of origin for all the features.
The post medieval field boundaries shown on the 1st edition 1:10560 Ordnance Survey map run from NGR TG0116 4337 to TG0146 4340 and TG0129 4339 to TG0128 4354 and TG0129 4352 to circa TG0106 4352. These are also visible, in part, on the 2nd edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey map (S3) and fit neatly into the current field pattern Ordnnace Survey 1:10000 base map. One possible enclosure is located at circa NGR TG0125 4350 (centre). It is about 60m by 30m in size and lies in the corner of a field created by the previously mentioned post medieval field boundaries (with the north and east sides being formed by those linears). The other linear features in this area clearly fit into the same complex, as far as alignment and appearance goes. They seem to divide up the field further, forming at least one other possible enclosure.
