Full Description
March 2003. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of linear features (ditches), a curvilinear enclosure/ring ditch, a rectilinear shaped ditch/pit and a more irregular shaped ditch/pit can be seen on RAF aerial photographs from 1945 (S1) and on 1973 OS aerial photographs (S2). The site is located to the east of Langham village and centred at TG0117 4137. There is in particular one long linear feature which runs from TG0119 4165 to TG0120 4137 (it is broken/obscured by a field boundary in one place) and towards its southern end there appears to be a short stretch of parallel ditch. The curved feature/curvilinear enclosure/ring ditch is located at TG0117 4137. The rectilinear ditch/pit is located around TG0120 4155 and the more irregular ditch/pit around TG0119 4154.
The date and origin of these features are uncertain.
There are possibly further cropmark features to be seen located in this vicinity. However, they are indistinct (due to background noise - geology and tramlines etc) and as a result have not been plotted.
H. Clare (NMP), 16 April 2003.
