Summary

A World War Two pillbox, probably a Type 22, is visible as an extant structure on 1940s aerial photographs. It is one of several anti invasion defences to be located along the quayside; these were presumably placed to inhibit an attack along or across the river.

Map

May 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A World War Two pillbox, probably a Type 22, is visible as an extant structure on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 5247 0677. It is one of several such structures to be sited along the quayside; another pillbox, NHER 27361, lies approximately 480m to the north. More recent aerial photographs indicate that since the end of the war the pillbox described here has been demolished.
