Summary

A mid 19th century shop and flat of red brick with a red and black pantile roof. Two storeys high with dormer attics, it has three sash windows to its façade with segmental arches over a double shop front. Pilasters flank the windows. There are doors at each end with consoles. The left hand fanlight over the door has GLASS AND CHINA in 19th century lettering.

In 1915 the shop was authorised to house the local telephone exchange and call office. It started out with 8 lines on a manual switchboard. By 1941 there were over 77 lines and the service was made automatic and transferred to a new UAX13 station at TG098228.
