Summary

Gothic Works is a large engineering factory still in use today. It is known to date from after 1883, but an exact date is unclear. It is constructed of brick with a curtain wall formed with towers, battlements and false machicolations in the style of Carcassonne. The wall towards the railway is blank, enhancing the impression of a contained unit, and it was a fine example of multicoloured patterned brickwork until the 1980s when it was coated with wallshield paint.
