Summary

Brief Assessment of the structural and stratigraphic data recovered on the site has resulted in the identification of a number of phases. The earliest of these relates to 11th-13th century remains, including a boundary ditch likely to have been dug in the 12th century or before, of great significance in the reconstruction of early land boundaries in the King Street area. The latest recorded phase relates to late 19th and 20th century remains including services related to the Read's Flour Mill office building, and evidence of the demolition of Hlaf Moon Yard in the 1950s. Further archaeological evidence recovered during this excavation has been recorded under NHER 26464.

Brief Assessment of the structural and stratigraphic data recovered on the site has resulted in the identification of a number of phases.
Phase 1: 11th-13th century remains, including a boundary ditch likely to have been dug in the 12th century or before, of great significance in the reconstruction of early land boundaries in the King Street area.
Phase 2: 14th and 15th century activity, characterised by a series of landscaping events including evidence of flint walling.
Phase 3: 16th-early 18th century buildings were recorded above the late medieval Phase 2 landscaping.
Phase 4: Late 18th -19th Century building remains and cobbled surfaces were recorded.
Phase 5: Late 19th and 20th century remains included services related to the Read's Flour Mill office building, and evidence of the demolition of Half Moon Yard in the 1950s.
Further archaeological evidence recovered during this excavation has been recorded under NHER 26464.
