Map

June 2005. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated linear and curvilinear ditches are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TG 5005 1209 and lie in the valley of the Pickerill Holme stream at c.4m OD. A total of 7 ditch cropmarks are present in this group. Two of these, on the eastern side of the group share a parallel northwest to southeast alignment. A similarly aligned curvilinear ditch and a southwest to northeast aligned ditch in the south of the group may also be contemporary with these two. Two curvilinear ditches in the north of the group are also aligned roughly parallel and may be contemporary with each other. One of these curvilinear ditches overlaps the ring ditch of a possible Bronze Age round barrow (NHER 27391). A further ditch cropmark is located entirely within the ring ditch. The relationship of these ditches to the ring ditch is uncertain. It is likely that these cropmarks relate to field boundary or possibly drainage ditches of unknown date.
