Full Description
June 2005. Norfolk NMP.
Cropmarks of undated linear ditches, probably field boundaries, are visible on aerial photographs (S1). These cropmarks are centred on TG 5081 1189 and lie at 16m OD. Three ditches are visible on roughly perpendicular southwest to northeast and northwest to southeast alignments. This alignment does not match that of the surviving post medieval field pattern or that shown on the 1812 enclosure map (S2). The alignment of these ditches is similar to possible Iron Age to Roman field boundaries recorded 200m to the west (NHER 27393) and they may be of a contemporary date. However, a later medieval date is also possible. Artefacts of this date have been recorded from within the area of the cropmarks (NHER 14760, 14761, 14763).
