Map

July 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A World War Two air raid shelter is visible as an earth covered structure on aerial photographs (S1 and 2), centred at TG 5247 0779. It is a large, probably semi sunken shelter, one of several constructed in the town. These are often located in the grounds of schools, as is the case here. Four entrances are visible, at least one of which is revetted. Light coloured dots visible on its roof on the April 1944 photographs (S1) may mark the location of ventilation shafts but were not clear enough to map. The shelter was levelled by August 1945 (S3).
