Summary

A World War Two air raid shelter is visible as an earth covered structure on 1940s aerial photographs. It is located adjacent to the former Lacons Brewery (NHER 1032 and 32585) and may be an industrial shelter used by workers at the brewery as well as, or even instead of, local inhabitants. It has been levelled since the end of the war.

Map

July 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A World War Two air raid shelter (or shelters) is visible as an earth covered structure (or structures) on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 5222 0798. It consists of what appear to be three conjoined, parallel structures, erected side by side. These may be surface structures or semi sunken. No entrances are visible but any that did exist might be expected in the long ends of the individual components (compare, for example, NHER 27441), i.e. the west or east side of the block as a whole. More recent aerial photographs and modern maps indicate that the area was levelled after the war.
