Map

July 2005. Norfolk NMP.
Undated linear ditch cropmarks are visible on aerial photographs (S1) to (S2). These cropmarks are centred on TG 5113 1262. A total of six linear ditch cropmarks are visible. These are on a range of different alignments including northwest to southeast, southwest to northeast and north to south. The longest ditch between TG 5116 1214 and TG 5126 1260 and two parallel ditches in the western part of the group share a similar alignment to rectilinear enclosure cropmarks further to the west (NHER 27512) and south (NHER 27513). However, they cannot be positively associated with these enclosures. It is likely that the ditches in this group relate to field or other boundaries of various periods.
J. Albone (NMP), 18 July 2005.

August-September 2017. Geophysical Survey.
Detailed magnetometer survey of large proposed development area.
This survey revealed a number of potentially archaeologically-significant linear anomalies, including two that potentially correspond with the pair of parallel north-west to south-east aligned cropmarks at TG 51057 12632. There was no evidence for surviving sub-surface remains associated with any of the other cropmarks in this group.
See NHER 64514 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 19 January 2021.

February-March 2023. Trial Trenching.
Evaluation of proposed development site.
Although this group fell almost entirely within the area examined it appears that only one of the cropmarks – a north-west to south-east aligned feature at TG 5106 1261 – actually coincided with one of the excavated trenches. This was also associated with a geophysical anomaly and was found to correspond with a ditch of likely Roman date. This was a number of pits and ditches of probable early Roman date recorded.
See report (S3) and NHER 64514 for further details.
P. Watkins (HES), 24 July 2023.
