Summary

A World War Two surface air raid shelter is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1944 and 1945. It was a large public surface shelter and was located at the western end of St Julian Road. Although the earliest photograph it is visible on dates to May 1944, it is likely that it was constructed earlier in the war. It had been demolished by July 1946. A World War Two air raid shelter is visible on contemporary aerial photographs (S1 to S2). This shelter was located at the western end of St Julian Road on the northern side of the street at TG 5239 1157.
