Map

July 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A World War Two air raid shelter is visible as an earth and vegetation covered structure on aerial photographs (S1), centred at TG 5225 0758. It appears to be trapezoidal in form and was probably semi sunken. The concrete roof to an entrance can be seen at its southwest corner. Although its construction differs from that of many of the medium sized shelters mapped within the town (e.g. NHER 27514), in that it lacks their segmented appearance, its size suggests that it too was probably used by civilians living or working in the immediate vicinity rather than serving a wider area. Modern maps and more recent aerial photographs indicate that it has been levelled and built over since the end of the war.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 25 July 2005.
