Map

September 2002. Norfolk NMP.
Two alignments of posts of unknown date, but possibly medieval to post medieval, or even relatively modern, are visible within the Cabbage Creek near Stiffkey Meals on Ordnance Survey aerial photographs from 1970 (S1). The site is centred on TF 9611 4513, although due to the inter-tidal location the grid reference may prove inaccurate. The two alignments of posts are visible at right angles to one another, running from TF 9602 4517 to TF 9611 4513 and TF 9612 4513 to TF 9618 4526. The purpose of these linear structures is not clear, it is possible that they are fish traps although the V is not pointing into the tide. Hopefully the NAU Coastal Field Survey will provide additional data with regards the construction and function of these posts if they are still visible or accessible at the time of the survey.
S. Massey (NMP), 26th September 2002.

May-November 2004. Norfolk Rapid Coastal Zone Archaeological Survey.
Inter-tidal survey (Environmental Zone 10), Context 951:
Five post alignments were found in the centre of Warham Hole channel. All were found between TF 96199 45280 and TF 96016 45043 and were aligned roughly northeast to southwest. They may have been channel revetments, but it is more likely that they were used during shellfish farming.
See assessment report (S2) for further details.
