Map

July 2005. At this approximate location.
Within a peat exposure slightly proud of the beach surface (clay), a circle of 20 upright wooden stakes, around 4cm in diameter and 15cm tall, with smaller wattles woven between the uprights, as if to make some sort of basket or container, perhaps associated with fishing. Very soft, spongy wood. There are Roman (NHER 41181) and Middle Saxon (NHER 34397) finds nearby.
A visit at low tide on 21 July 2005 failed to find these remains.
D. Gurney (NLA), 22 July 2005.
