Summary

A hut or temporary building, probably a World War Two civil defence structure, is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1944 and 1945. It is one of several structures of this type to have been identified at Great Yarmouth. It was removed soon after the end of the war.

Full Description

August 2005. Norfolk NMP.
A hut or temporary building dating to World War Two is visible on aerial photographs (S1 to S2), centred at TG 5274 0696. The single storey rectangular structure was presumably associated with the civil defence of Great Yarmouth, and may have acted as an air raid shelter, temporary accommodation, or food station, for example. Several other structures of this type have been identified at Great Yarmouth (for example, NHER 27431). It was removed before April 1946 (S3).
